American Crafts Buys Pebbles

American Crafts announced today it has acquired Pebbles, Inc, effective immediately.

Pebbles will continue to operate under the American Crafts umbrella as a separate brand. Current Pebbles products will be continued and new ones will be introduced in the future.

Brenda Birrell founded Pebbles in 2001 as an extension of the Pebbles in my Pocket retail stores, located in Orem, Salt Lake City and St. George, Utah.  Birrell is retaining the retail stores and plans to focus on managing them. She says she believes that American Crafts will continue her goal of allowing people an easy way to preserve memories and strengthen relationships:

I feel good knowing American Crafts will move that initiative forward. When we made the decision to sell Pebbles to focus on managing our retail stores, American Crafts immediately came to mind as the perfect fit.

According to the press statement about the acquisition from American Crafts,  the core members of the Pebbles design team will be continuing with the company to ensure the company's signature "simple, cute and fun" look remains unchanged.

American Crafts President Jeff Mitchell says that Pebbles will be a great complement to the current American Crafts brand:

We consider Brenda a longtime friend and recognize the tremendous contributions she has made as a pioneer in scrapbooking. We think the line of products she and her designers have created nicely complements American Crafts’ product lines. We’re excited to add Pebbles to the mix and offer an even greater selection of high-quality craft supplies.

Pebbles products are available for consumer purchase on the Pebbles web site, www.pebblesinc.com, as well as from major scrapbook retailers such as Scrapbook.com and TwoPeasInABucket.com and local scrapbook retailers.  Retailers interested in ordering Pebbles products for their stores can contact American Crafts at 800.879.5185.
