Digital Designers | Pattie Knox

Meet the Designer I am so happy to introduce you to a wonderful digital designer and a very familiar name in the digital scrapbooking industry – Pattie Knox. I have been a huge fan of Pattie's designs and layouts for years and I hope you enjoy getting to know her. Her energy and sense of humor are guaranteed to bring a smile to your day.

Pattie’s Life Pattie lives in northeast Ohio with her husband, Tom. Their yellow lab, Izzy, is their only "child" still left at home but their "two greatest designs" are their son, David, and daughter, Tiffany. And they very recently welcomed their first grandchildren - Lincoln and Mylee are 4-month-old twins and have brought Pattie and her husband a tremendous amount of joy.

Pattie works full-time as an elementary school Technology Specialist. She loves working with children and says, "I believe they have taught me more than I have ever taught them in many ways! I love my job, but I love designing products and teaching online classes even more and am eager to have more time to devote to both ventures when I retire."

Pattie's Scrapbooking & Design Background  Pattie has been a designer at Designer Digitals for six years. But she didn't start as a digi scrapper. She describes her previous paper scrapbooking years as a bit of a mess, "I was really never very good at paper scrapping. I can’t cut a straight line, I always had glue in my hair and ink on my fingers … and Tom wasn’t too thrilled with the dents I put in our dining room table hammering in rivets!"

One day, she bought a scrapbooking magazine that focused on digital scrapbooking and she was instantly hooked. She found Scrapbook Bytes online and became very involved with the small digi community that existed back then. She joined a design team, wrote tutorials and began creating templates. After she found a home at Designer Digitals in 2006, owner Katie Pertiet asked if she would like to design and sell templates and she has never looked back. She has sold her products at Designer Digitals ever since and has become a very well-known designer and digital "expert."

She served as a Contributing Editor for Creating Keepsakes' now-defunct “Digital Scrapbooking Magazine” and still loves teaching others how to utilize Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. She has taught online classes at Get It Scrapped and currently teaches at Creative Passion Classes. "When that lightbulb goes off in a student’s head, I’m thrilled!" she says.

Pattie’s Style & Inspiration Pattie describes her style as "geared more towards the traditional paper-scrapped style. And I think my love of whimsy is definitely evident in my work. I tend to be inspired by holidays or themes and most of my kits are theme-oriented. When you spend your days in an elementary school setting I think that primary colors, holidays, and kids’ activities become engrained in your consciousness!"

Pattie's favorite products to create are her Felt Board Friends and Cardstock Cuties collections. Working on them always brings a smile to her face.

She is well-known for her fun, whimsical kits, her acrylic products, oodles and oodles of fasteners and brads, felt products, alphabets, and templates.

Fun Facts Pattie's favorite color is red and finds it cheerful and energizing. When asked about her favorite food, she laughed, "Favorite food? I’m Italian--ALL foods are my favorite! If I had to pick one though--let’s just say that I never met a potato chip that I didn’t like - and I wouldn’t turn down a medium-rare prime rib either!" After a long week of working and designing, her favorite way to spend Friday nights is at home with husband, eating take-out Chinese and reading a good book.

Where to find Pattie Besides Designer Digitals, you can find Pattie at Creative Passions - Pattie Knox classes and on Facebook at Facebook/Pattie Knox. You can also read more about her at her blog - Pattie Knox.
