Update | ICE Resin, Tammy Tutterow, SPC, more
Another wave of news has hit, and that means it is time for another Update column!
By now, most everyone in the industry has heard the sad news of the tragic death of Heidi Swapp's 16 year old son Cory on July 10th. My family joins the entire scrapbook industry in sending its love and support to the Swapp family at this difficult time.
If you'd like to share your message of support with the Swapp family, two different options are available. Becky Higgins is coordinating a collection of 4x4 cards to be placed into albums for the family, and Persnickety Prints is accepting mail at their address for the Swapps as well. (The address is in the graphic below.)

New Products. While Heidi is taking some time off to deal with the loss of her son, the Heidi Swapp media team has taken over running the social media promotion for Heidi's recently announced big product launch at Target. The DIY Marquee line is debuting in Target stores. The products appear similar to the Marquee letters previously released under Heidi's brand, but are made of plastic instead of paper.
Changes. Tammy Tutterow, who had worked for five years for both Ranger and Tim Holtz under a variety of titles, has announced that she has left those positions to take an offer from a yet-to-be-named company to create her own product line. The new product line will debut in January 2016 at the CHA Mega show, with sneak peeks to be revealed later this fall.
Changes (part 2). Epoxy resin company ICE Resin has entered an exclusive production and distribution agreement with Ranger Industries. ICE Resin, owned by Susan Lenart Kazmer and Jen Cushman, had previously had a partnership with Spellbinders. Promoted for use in mixed media and jewelry projects, ICE Resin is a two part epoxy. Its availability in self-mixing syringes makes it approachable for users inexperienced in working with this type of material. Ranger has previously explored the jewelry market through its Vintaj line. The ICE Resin partnership will significantly expand its presence in the space.
Copyright. Earlier today, Doodlebug Design posted on Facebook alleging that digital content for sale in an Etsy store infringes on their copyright and also the copyright of another large industry manufacturer.

As much as I hate to post this link, I am sharing it so that all my manufacturer and designer readers may investigate the store for the presence of their intellectual property. (The link has been "no followed" so that Google will not count it is a positive link for the myclipartstore Etsy store.)
Copyright (part 2). In other bad news for copyright owners, orphan works legislation has returned to cause problems for creators. For more details on why the proposed changes to copyright law are extremely bad for the creative community, visit Jen Goode's website.
Schedule. Pre-orders are shipping for the Week In The Life kits, and along with the kits Ali Edwards has announced the date for the annual recording of a snapshot of daily life. For those who wish to participate alongside Ali, she will be recording her Week in the Life from August 17th-23rd.
Deals. Gossamer Blue has announced they are having a warehouse box sale. Boxes are priced at $49 and contain items from the company's Get Happy, 2014 December Memories, Gramercy Road and On My Desk Collections.
